The long-awaited spin-off, Suits LA, is finally here, but it's having a hard time matching up to the original Suits. Even though the new series has a fresh setting and new characters, it just doesn't have the same depth and charm that made the original such a hit with fans.

A Quick Look at the First Suits

The original Suits series, dreamed up by Aaron Korsh, kicked off on USA Network back in 2011 and enjoyed nine awesome seasons. It takes place in a make-believe New York City law firm and tells the story of Mike Ross, a college dropout with an amazing photographic memory, who scores a job as an associate working for the sharp and charming lawyer Harvey Specter. The show was a fan favorite, thanks to its clever dialogue, deep characters, and gripping legal showdowns.

Suits LA: New City, Same Old Flaws

Suits LA tries to capture the vibe of the original series but doesn't quite hit the mark in some areas. The show takes place in Los Angeles, which is pretty different from the busy streets of New York City. Sure, the new setting offers some nice views of the hills, but it misses that concrete jungle feel that made the original show so appealing.

The main character, Teddy Black, played by Stephen Amell, isn't quite like Harvey Specter. Even though he's got style and confidence, Black doesn't have the depth and charisma that made Specter such a fan favorite. The story follows Black as he navigates various issues, from mergers to personal drama, but the secrets and conflicts aren't as gripping as those in the original series.

Missing the Magic

One of the main complaints about Suits LA is that it just doesn't capture the same vibe and chemistry as the original cast. The way Harvey Specter and Mike Ross, along with the rest of the crew, interacted was a big reason why Suits was so captivating. On the other hand, the characters in Suits LA seem a bit all over the place and don't really click in the same way.

Even though Aaron Korsh adds his touch to the spin-off, Suits LA doesn't quite capture the depth and complexity of the original characters. The show tries to be sassy and stylish, but it doesn't hook you in the same way.

Wrapping it up

Suits LA might grab your attention if you're on the hunt for a legal drama, but if you're a hardcore fan of the original Suits, you might feel it's a bit lacking. The series tries to bring back the original's magic but doesn't quite nail it. It's got some cool moments, but it doesn't really live up to the high bar set by Harvey Specter's world, with all its sharp wit and captivating stories.
